Data Weave, 2025
Patina on Bronze
8 W x 8 D x 18 H ft
Data Weave imagines an AI programming language that transforms simple inputs into complex structures, reminding us that simplicity always contains hidden layers. Drawing from Gandhi's seemingly simple ideas, now layered and reinterpreted over time, the work reflects how meaning grows through accumulation and context. Like a maypole dance, where a single ribbon multiplies into intricate patterns, viewers weave/"read" the work through a continuous line of khadi thread. Created using the ancient Dokhra casting technique, beeswax strings are hand-coiled in an additive, layer-by-layer process that parallels modern 3D printing, with artisans functioning like human algorithms translating data into bronze. Interactive in nature, Data Weave brings together data, history, craft and interpretation, inviting viewers to experience how meaning is woven through labour, time and collective memory.
