A Banana republic is a state that is politically unstable as a result of the domination of its economy by a single export controlled by foreign capital. In 1870, An American sailor Lorenzo Dow Baker, bought bananas in Jamaica and sold them in Boston at a 1,000 percent profit. This incident conceptualised a Banana Republic .
